A word concerning this scholarship

Barbara Stallings, winner Dab Nwabah
and winner Andrew Conwell
The scholarship
is named after John Stallings, a 1986 LHHS
graduate and outstanding choral music
student. John was a member and officer of
the A Cappella Choir as well as a member of
Espree. He also ran track, was an academic
achiever, and displayed strong leadership
qualities at his young age. After
graduation, John began his studies at Texas
A & M University, but was killed in an
automobile accident in February of 1987.
John’s parents established this scholarship
in his memory with the hope of recognizing
valuable contributions to the LHHS choral
program – focusing on musical excellence,
involvement in choral music and other school
activities, and outstanding character and
leadership traits. Each year, scholarships
in the amount of $500 to $1,000 are granted
to up to four LHHS graduating seniors who
have consistently demonstrated these
qualities. To date, over $53,000 in
scholarships has been awarded.
